Ok, so i read this and it sounds cool and all. But it still bugged me. The original site I saw this on titled the post “Mushrooms to Mansions: Organic Building Materials.” Which bothered me because recently the word “organic” is synonymous with good. But- trees are organic. Crude oil is organic. Mushrooms are still a difficult material to renew- even though they are organic. It costs energy to renew. Do we need another material on the list that exploits natural resources? I don’t think we consume enough mushrooms to consider the excess inedible roots a free by-product. Plus. Mushrooms smell.
